Design Engineer-Vehicle Integration
About the role
- Mechanical/Automobile Engineering professional with 2–4 years of experience in vehicle integration, packaging, structural layout, and geometric clearance management. Skilled in CATIA V5/V6 3D modelling, surface/solid design, 2D drafting, Master Layout/DMU, and EV/Hybrid vehicle architecture.
- Familiar with PLM tools, engineering change management, automotive regulations, and manufacturing design principles including sheet metal, plastics, casting, and forging.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Requirements:
Domain Execution: Hands-on work experience in the domain of complete vehicle integration packaging, structural layout design, and geometric clearance management.
Catia 3D Modelling: Lead and execute complex 3D modelling, solid/surface styling modification, and 2D drafting for vehicle integration brackets, structural mounts, and space-claim models using Catia V5/V6.
Master Layout & DMU Management: Maintain and continuously update the vehicle Master Layout / Digital Mock-Up (DMU) to track space allocation, axle load distributions, and high-voltage clearance requirements.Architecture & Vehicle Experience: Hands-on design experience in the layout integration of passenger cars or commercial vehicle EV, Hybrid architectures (PHEV, HEV, BEV).
PLM & Release Process: Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (such as Teamcenter or Windchill) for CAD data management, part maturity tracking, and engineering change management (ECM).
Regulatory Compliance: Basic awareness of automotive regulatory, crash safety, and compliance layout requirements (such as AIS, CMVR, and high-voltage isolation basics).
Independent Execution: Ability to handle assigned vehicle zones (e.g., Under-bonnet, Under-body, or Cabin packaging) independently and be responsible for individual design output.
Engineering Principles: Strong understanding of sheet metal forming, plastic injection moulding, and vehicle casting/forging design constraints to ensure designs are optimized for assembly.
- Education: B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.
- Experience: 2–4 years in automotive vehicle integration & packaging.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, Master Layout & DMU.
- Experience in structural layout, clearance management, brackets, mounts, and space claims.
- Knowledge of EV/Hybrid (BEV/HEV/PHEV) vehicle architecture.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter/Windchill, AIS, CMVR, and HV safety requirements.
- Understanding of sheet metal, plastics, casting, and forging design constraints.
- Ability to independently handle vehicle packaging zones and design deliverables.
